How to Create an Invoice

Creating Your First Invoice

Invoify makes it easy to create professional, HMRC-compliant invoices in minutes.

Step 1: Open the Editor

Navigate to Create Invoice from the dashboard or visit the public editor at /invoice/create. No signup is required to get started.

Step 2: Add Your Details

Fill in the Bill From section with your business information:

  • Business name
  • Address
  • Email and phone
  • VAT number (if VAT-registered)

Tip: Save time by setting your default billing info in Settings > Billing Information. It will auto-fill on every new invoice.

Step 3: Add Your Client

In the Bill To section, enter your client's details or select an existing contact from your address book.

Step 4: Add Line Items

Click Add Item to add products or services:

  • Description
  • Quantity
  • Unit price
  • Tax rate (Standard 20%, Reduced 5%, Zero-rated, or Exempt)

You can also select from your Product Catalog for frequently used items.

Step 5: Review and Customise

  • Choose a template from the gallery
  • Adjust colours and typography to match your brand
  • Upload your logo
  • Add payment terms and notes if needed

Step 6: Issue and Send

When you're happy with your invoice:

  1. Click Issue to finalise the invoice
  2. Click Send to deliver it by email
  3. Or Download PDF for manual delivery

Invoice Numbering

Invoify automatically numbers your invoices using configurable prefixes. Go to Invoice Numbering in the dashboard to customise the format (e.g., INV-2026-0001).
