How to Create an Invoice
Creating Your First Invoice
Invoify makes it easy to create professional, HMRC-compliant invoices in minutes.
Step 1: Open the Editor
Navigate to Create Invoice from the dashboard or visit the public editor at /invoice/create. No signup is required to get started.
Step 2: Add Your Details
Fill in the Bill From section with your business information:
- Business name
- Address
- Email and phone
- VAT number (if VAT-registered)
Tip: Save time by setting your default billing info in Settings > Billing Information. It will auto-fill on every new invoice.
Step 3: Add Your Client
In the Bill To section, enter your client's details or select an existing contact from your address book.
Step 4: Add Line Items
Click Add Item to add products or services:
- Description
- Quantity
- Unit price
- Tax rate (Standard 20%, Reduced 5%, Zero-rated, or Exempt)
You can also select from your Product Catalog for frequently used items.
Step 5: Review and Customise
- Choose a template from the gallery
- Adjust colours and typography to match your brand
- Upload your logo
- Add payment terms and notes if needed
Step 6: Issue and Send
When you're happy with your invoice:
- Click Issue to finalise the invoice
- Click Send to deliver it by email
- Or Download PDF for manual delivery
Invoice Numbering
Invoify automatically numbers your invoices using configurable prefixes. Go to Invoice Numbering in the dashboard to customise the format (e.g., INV-2026-0001).
Document Types
Invoify supports five document types:
- Invoice — Standard sales invoice
- Credit Note — Issued to correct or refund an invoice
- Debit Note — Additional charges to an existing invoice
- Proforma — Quote or estimate (not a tax document)
- Receipt — Confirmation of payment received
